Reiyukai activities in Taiwan with a focus on Taipei started in around 1972. A liaison office was opened in Taipei by an affiliation of the Lay Buddhist Organization of the Republic of China and Reiyukai (Japan) in 1977. The Taiwanese-version of the Chinese Blue Sutra was published in 1979; and the Taiwanese-version of the Chinese Maitreya Sutra was published in 1991. Reiyukai Taiwan Branch Office was approved in 1997, and Reiyukai Taiwan was inaugurated as a corporate judicial person in 2000. Also, the Taiwanese Youth Group Society was established in 1978. Since 1981 until now, Reiyukai Taiwan has been actively promoting an exchange with the youth of Japan and welcoming the delegation from Japan to Taiwan through the Students Congress for Tomorrow’s Japan.
